Nigeria's Golden Eaglets were beaten 1-0 in their semifinal clash against the Amajimbos of South Africa at the ongoing African under 17 Championship in Niger Republic.
South Africa with the victory have now qualified for the final of the competition on Saturday.

It was a match that Nigeria found it difficult to breach their opposition who weathered the storm to emerge victorious.

A 26th minute strike from Eric Erick Mayo made the difference in the game, as it was the only goal scored in the encounter.

Both Kelechi Nwakali and Victor Osimhen, Nigeria's standout performers in the competition, couldn't find a way to lift their team.

But mention must be made of the impressive shift by South Africa's goalkeeper, Mpoto, who repelled everything thrown at him.

Chukwueze Samuel was the biggest culprit, missing a good chance that would have leveled for the Golden Eaglets.

However, South Africa held on for the victory and will now face the winner of the other semifinal match between Mali and Guinea.

Nigeria might not be worried a lot about the defeat, knowing that they have secured qualification for the FIFA under 17 World Cup tournament.
